Where do the stem cells come from?

There are multiple sources of stem cells such as bone marrow, adipose tissue, dental pulp, amniotic fluid, umbilical cord blood or umbilical cord tissue cells. The cells obtained from the umbilical cord exhibit properties characteristic for Mesenchymal Stromal Cells (MSCs) according to the International Society for Cellular Therapy. Although MSCs have been isolated from various compartments of the umbilical cord, Wharton’s jelly is commonly referred to as the best source of clinically utilizable stem cells.
